Faculty Research Differentiated Baysian Conjoint Choice Designs

چکیده
Previous conjoint choice design construction procedures have produced a single design that is administered to all subjects. This paper proposes to construct a limited set of different designs. The designs are constructed in a Bayesian fashion, taking into account prior uncertainty about the parameter values. A computational procedure is developed that enables fast and easy implementation in practice. Even though the number of such different designs in the optimal set is small, it is demonstrated through a Monte Carlo study that substantial gains in efficiency are achieved over aggregate designs. 1 Postdoc Researcher, Econometric Institute, Erasmus University Rotterdam, P.O. Efficient Experimental Design with Marketing Research Applications
We suggest using D-efficient experimental designs for conjoint and discrete-choice studies, and discuss orthogonal arrays, nonorthogonal designs, relative efficiency, and nonorthogonal design algorithms. We construct designs for a choice study with asymmetry and interactions and for a conjoint study with blocks and aggregate interactions.∗

Stated-preference methods are a class of evaluation techniques for studying the preferences of patients and other stakeholders. While these methods span a variety of techniques, conjoint-analysis methods-and particularly discrete-choice experiments (DCEs)-have become the most frequently applied approach in health care in recent years. Experimental design is an important stage in the development...
متن کاملThe Nonstandard Algorithm for Constructing Efficient Conjoint Experimental Designs
Conjoint analysis is a research technique for measuring consumer preferences, and it is a method for simulating consumers’ possible reactions to changes in current products or newly introduced products into an existing competitive market. One of the most critical steps in Conjoint analysis application is experimental designs construction. The purpose of an experimental design is to give a rough...
متن کاملProfile Construction in Experimental Choice Designs for Mixed Logit Models
A computationally attractive model for the analysis of conjoint choice experiments is the mixed multinomial logit model, a multinomial logit model in which it is assumed that the coefficients follow a (normal) distribution across subjects. This model offers the advantage over the standard multinomial logit model of accommodating heterogeneity in the coefficients of the choice model across subje...
متن کاملPortfolio Choices and Cross Effects Designs
This paper argues that certain choice problems in transportation research can be best conceptualized as problems of portfolio choice. It discusses how portfolio choice problems can be studied using stated choice (conjoint) methods. Issues in the construction in the design of experiments, model specification and estimation are discussed. A working example illustrates the basic approach. Finally,...
